% I just downloaded and upgraded to Pine 4.05, and I'm having only one
% problem, and it's a nuisance problem and nothing else... but anyway,
% every time that I open my mailbox or change screens, the Pine says this:
%
% [Mailbox vulnerable - directory must have 1777 protection]
%
% Any ideas? I've ran the following on my ~/mail directory:
%
% chmod 1777 mail

Does your mail get delivered to ~/mail or to /var/spool/mail/$USERNAME?

WARNING: WHAT FOLLOWS IS SPECULATION: My guess is that Pine expects
the permissions to be mode 6000. The chmod command you issued above
makes ~/mail world-readable, world-writable and world-executable,
which has increased its vulnerability. Try chmod 6000 <file> and
see if that fixes the problem. This is also dealth with in the PINE
FAQ and README.
