xf86config and xf86Setup create a file called XF86Config, used by the X server to get its settings. On my system, this file is in /etc, but this can vary by distribution. It's an ordinary text file, so you can look at it with vi or whatever. The lines you want are the entries for HorizSync and VertRefresh.
