You state;
When I do a make menuconfig from ""/usr/src/linux""
you get the return;
make[1]: Leaving directory /u1/usr/src/linux-2.0.36/scripts/lxdialog
                           ^^^
What is the "u1" directory. ????

The error "ld: cannot open -lc: No such file or directory"
is produced by the program "ld" i cant quite see why it is trying to open a
file called "-lc" as those are the options given by lxdialog,
'ld -lc filename' i would imagen 'ld' cannot find the file needed as there
possably is a directory descrepancy with the "u1" directory..

I could of course be wrong.
