Thanks to Peter,Ray,Akintayo,Mike(ka8ysd), Wayne, Richard(pa3gcu),

privately.
With universal cooperation like this how can Linux fail to grow and
flourish ?
There was even an offer to get me a cdrom. "Thanks, Jim."
At the local computor show they were priced from $3 (sic) for a 3X,
$15 for a 6X, to $35 for a 40X. (I bought the 40X). But that was too
easy
a solution.
Linux manuals that state, "You will need an operational installation
of MS-DOS on your machine to run the installation utility.", irk me.
Linux should be able to stand alone. After all, I don't need a cdrom to
install MS-DOS.
An interesting solution (TI2DLL) suggested making up a disk
including
core, ppp, a small editor, and just the neccessities for ftp. With such a
disk anyone on line could access Linux in his/her distribution of choice
and build up his system with all the goodies for free. A README could
cite various distrib mirrors and a short, "5 Minute", HOWTO.
This seems like an independent modality to further Linux. It would
also serve as a rescue disk.
Has anyone had experience with, "linux on one floppy", or Trinux ?

    http://www.toms.net/rb/ or

    http://www.trinux.org

Notice that one of the add-ons is ppp.

This was my first question to the group and the response was over-
whelming.
Happy New Year to all of you. May 1999 be the best of your lives.
