I posted a message here about a week or so ago about my new video card (thanks to all who replied). I was having some problems getting X to run. I received a couple of responses stating to "return the card, AGP usually doesn't work well with Linux..." and also stating that the last message was untrue. I decided to let the folks at RedHat give me some of that Installation help they promise to customers, and it worked! The response basically stated that my video cards (ATI Charger AGP) chipset (Rage IIc) was not supported in the version of XFree86 that ships with RHL5.2 but that there was a newer version (3.3.3) and I should try it. It went through the steps on how to find out what RPM's I needed and how to upgrade them. After upgrading and configuring, X is running perfectly. The moral of the story is that I'm glad I spent the time to find out how to make the card work. It saved me time, money, my sanity, and helped me understand better how XFree86 and Linux work. Kudos to the Installation Support Tech's at RedHat and to all of the people who helped me with my problem. == - Jeff Buckey [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Your mouse has moved.
