All depends on the number of applications you want to install. I know
a couple of distributions that fit in 4-5 floppies. There is even Linux
On A Floppy (LOAF).
Some might say 300M isn't enough. I don't know for sure. What I can
tell you is that I have Linux in less than 250M. And it's working
pretty good.

Yes. I have a 530M hard disk drive. And on it there is Linux as well
as windoze 97 (OSR2). And it works.

No. You need UMSDOS. Which can be (I guess) on FAT32.
