If you need to get into your windows temporary you may be able to hop up
in there with a dos boot disk.
I'm not to familar with LILO, but loadlin could be a valid options if you
wish to go that way, it seems safer since it doesn't need to write
to the MBR. At start up there is also a way to make a boot menu so you
would have the option to boot to linux, dos or windows when you first
start. You could also put an icon on your windows desktop, or a dos
batch file so you could directly 'boot' to linux when those operating
system as up and running, instead of restarting the entire system.
It's not really an answer to your question, but I could help you with
loadlin if you wish. I got all the config files at home and could help
you get loadlin up and running, if you wish.
Sorry if I am suggesting to a emac user to use vi, but my knowledge is
limited.
