I have been given a Compaq Prosigna 500 to install Red Hat Linux 5.2 upon and I cannot get it to see the SCSI card. The SCSI system is identified as Compaq ST3255N and is biased on the NCR 53C710 chip. I found the chipset on the list but it will not autodetect it or accept any of the options I give it. I have found a patch that is supposed to work. I saved it as a text file on my win9x system but since I am new to the Linux world I do not know how to set it up. I have searched several internet sites and found I am not the first person to discover this problem but I have yet to find an answer. I either need the proper syntax for the options or instructions on how to change the install disk so I can get started.
