>And finally, I want to back up my entire HDD on CD-Rom, does there exist Yes there are o lot of programs for that: you will need mkisofs to build an iso filesystem with rockridge extensions with all your datas in it. be carefull to the difference between "-r" and "-R" when you make your isofs (man mkisofs). in your case (backup of all the fs), i imagine you will need -R to keep the UID/GID of the files to their real value. (-r give everything to user root since you don't know what the users ID will be on the unix machine using your CDrom later... you will also need cdrecord to burn your newly created image to the cdrecorder. note that you can pipe the two commands if your machine is fast enough and not used by several people on a lan ... this way you won't need the extra disk space to build the isofs. note also that there are X frontends to these commands available (Xcdroast), i have tried it, it does work but i don't use it (used to type commands...). hope this helps
