Typo ?

I think BIOS defaults are:
COM     ttyS    port    irq
1       0       3f8     4
2       1       2f8     3
3       2       3e8     4       ;I usually use irq=5 here
4       3       2e8     3       ;I usually use irq=7 here as any box using
                                ;4 serial ports is usually not a printer server

I use setserial, in /etc/rc.local, to set /dev/ttyS2 to irq 5.
