Hi all,
I have been lurking on this list for a while now trying to get as much
information about Linux as possible. I have, however, run into a
problem I have not seen addressed here. I have installed Red Hat 5.1
onto a Pentium II and then put the source tree onto the hard drive for
the purposes of doing some re-compiling of the kernel. Since Red Hat
installs PPP as a module by default, I wanted to include it into the
kernel, so I did a 'make xconfig', chose that option and did all the
necessary steps: make dep, make clean, make zImage, make modules, and
make modules_install.

That image will not boot. It hangs after about 3 dots at the LILO
prompt.

My configuration:
Red Hat 5.1
ppp-2.3.3 (Came with the CD)
Pentium II 233
2.0.35 kernel

Thanks,
Mike
