I'm copying this reply, along with your original question, back to the
linux-newbie list, because you might get help from others that way and
because I generally prefer not to receive *private* requests for consulting
advice (happy to help with questions on the list, though).

I'm not sure what you mean when you use the word "configurations". If you
haven't done so, try installing the SVGA server, with 640*480 mode only,
specifying the lowest vertical and horizontal refresh rates that xf86config
offers as an option. If this doesn't fix your problem, it probably isn't a
sync value problem and you'll need help from someone with expertise
involving your specific card/monitor combo.
