The best thing to do here is read some documentation, there are several
files and doc's to read about howto compile kernels configure them, copy
them to there final resting place and rerun lilo to boot the new kernel.
I suggest you read the following which should be found in your /usr/doc/*
directory somewhere, it will explane what to do;
Kernel-HOWTO.gz
Another "snapshot" file is /usr/src/linux/README.
If you dont have any HOWTO files located in /usr/doc/* then you can read
them online at;;
http://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO/*.html
The above URL has changed names, however trying the above wil transfer you
to the correct URL.
If you need anymore help, i have a file here which gives exacht commands on
howto make a new kernel, of course the configuration is "system spesific"
that only you can do properly.
