Good listers

        I don't think I quite made myself clear enough in my last post.  Me bad..

        I know what a swap partiition does (I come from a very extensive Winblows
background, so I know what they are for..), what I didn't know was the
"recommended" size...

        I realise it will depend on the role the box is fulfilling, what sort of
apps I intend to run, available HD space, phase of the moon, the way I'm
holding my mouth, etc, etc..

        But what is the "rule of thumb" in the Linux world ...  

        No more explinations of what the swap file is for please.
