To the list:
Seems noone on the list has two printers to tell me how I can change the
default printer as user ?
And now the configuration for Canon BJC240 or BJ240 for Andrew Brinks:
##PRINTTOOL3## LOCAL bj200 360x360 a4 {} CanonBJ200 Default 1
lp:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/lp1:\
:if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter:\
:sh:
This file was generated by the GUI tool in RedHat 5.1 (Control Pannel)
The filter was in the distribution. The filter works only for B&W so you
got to have in the printer the B&W ink cartrige.
There is a floppy named "Dos Utilities" you got when you bought the
printer. On this floppy is a DOS program who can set your printer to
work with BJ codes or with LQ codes (emulating Epson LQ printer).
The printer works with the CanonBJ200 filter ONLY if the settings are
for BJ codes.
If someone set the printer for emulating Epson LQ you have to use the
filter for Epson24pins.
I tried both ways and it works.
And there is another strange thing with Canon240:
In Win95 the signals send by the PC are prevaling upon the setting of
the printer.
In Linux the settings of the printer are prevaling upon the signals
received from PC. So the settings in the printer memory are very
important (I mean scalling, dpi, draft or LQ).
If you don't have the filters it is more difficult and you need somebody
more experimented than me to tell you how to bild a filter.Or take it
from someone who has a complete distribution.
