Hi All,

I have 2 things I would like to sort out under Linux (the quicker I sort them
out the sooner I get rid of the W98 abomination ... and the Happier I will be :-)

(1) Modem connection. I have got a USR Winmodem x2 upg. v90 and thanks to
Dell for putting that in my box :-( because I cannot use it under Linux.

(2) ISDN connection (64kbps/128kbps) thru the BT Highway box (This is the
ISDN service we can get in the UK thru British Telecom). I have got an ISDN
TA (internal PCI card) for which I am affraid no driver exist under Linux and
... well, tough! If anyone out there knows something about the TORNADO TIPA
ISDN TA (PCI) from Allied Technologies and they made it work under Linux
then pls let me know.

My prefered solution would be to get:
        - an external ISDN TA that connects to a serial port (I guess that would
eliminate all the card's config pbms since the comms are done thru a serial
port, is that right?). On top of that, if there could be some kind of v90
emulation that would be terrific. I could get rid of the 2 stupid cards and
        have everything working under Linux.
The other advantage would be that I could use this device with my laptop and
install Linux on my laptop :-)

The $10000 question is:
        - does someone know about such an external ISDN TA (with v90 emulation)?
or - should I buy a Linux compatible internal (or external) ISDN TA? if this
is better, what would be a good choice?

notes (1): I am running RH5.2 with a Kernel 2.2.1 and KDE 1.1
notes (2): If someone runs Linux and uses BT Highway (UK), info on your config and
set up would be very helpful.
notes (3): I have been using Linux for 3 weeks only so I do apologize if I do ask
already answered questions.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Fred
