When you untarred/ziped it, what was in the "52 Meg" kernel? Was it all
source, or was it a binary kernel (I know it sounds weird to download a
binary kernel, but I've seen pre-compiled kernels in rpm format)
Was anything else included in the tar ball, like say the complete
transcript to war and peace, in 5 differant launages? :)
After it was expanded how much space did it take up then? Did the tarball
take up 52 megs of space when your transfered it over to your linux
server?
What site did you download it from? On the ftp server you downloaded it
from, did it report the size on the server as 52 megs?
Do a ls -alr > allfiles in the root directory where you dumped it out
under, check that file then to see exactly what else you may have gotten
with your kernel
hope that helps
