suggestion. (My guess, BTW, is a flaky Ethernet card, but it's not a guess
I'd put money on at this point.)
1. In general terms, what does your system look like -- especially, what NIC
(Ethernet card)?
2. When you first boot and everything is okay, what does ifconfig report?
3. Right after you first encounter problems, what does ifconfig report?
4. After the system has been running for a little while, but well before it
shows any problems, what is the output of "more /proc/net/dev"?
5. Right after the problems begin, what is the output of "more /proc/net/dev"?
6. Right after the problems begin, what is the output of "more
/proc/interrupts"?
7. Do the logfiles (probably /var/log/messages, though Mandrake may be
different) report anything of interest?
