setting up Xwindows

I'm still new to Linux, and I'm having trouble setting up my system for 
Xwindows. I have an IBM 2118 17' monitor and an ATI Rage II graphics 
card. I can't find any of the specs for the card at either company's 
website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
