Word Perfect 8 will do Word quite nicely.  Not sure about Works. 
http://linux.corel.com  Warning - big download.  But once installed it
runs very nicely.  Or at least it does for me - usual disclaimer. 
Install was easy.  No charge download, also now available on CDROM from
various vendors.
