Thanks everyone that helped me with this, I got hold of an XF86Config
file thru the volunteers database and now have 800x600 with 16bpp, That
being my last task I'm now laptopping away, On a similar note though,
during my efforts I tried the scitech software... did some very bizarre
things to the LCD, had to power it off pretty quickly because it didn't
look healthy..

I got X working wonderful on my Satellite 460 CDX. There is a
document on http://www.linux.org/hardware/laptop.html on how to set up
many laptops. I used the document on the 440 CDX. You should be able
to use that one if there isn't one specifically for your model. It
and mine both have the C&T adapter.
