I gather by the way in which you have written the question that you dont
have any problems and your system is perfectly useable.

All linux systems mount the "root" filesystem read-only at boottime, this is
to allow fsck to check the disk without damaging it or its contents, after
fsck has finished the device is mounted read-write.

The differance between a filesystem mounted read-only (ro) and read-write
(rw) is that read-only will not allow you to write to the disk.

If the partition is being mounted read-only then you possably need to check
/etc/fstab and change "ro" to "rw" for that partition.

But i susspect you are only seeing the message monuting read-only, and not
seeing that a couple of seconds later another message appiers saying.
"remounting device read-write".

If you had been more detailistic, then a shorter more to the point answer
was possable, as it is you provided very little information.
