As regards your first question, take a look at question 3.7 in the

As for the second question, you should see little or no
difference. The bash shell tries to imitate the behaviour of the (Bourne)
sh. Be aware that on some Linux distributions (if not all), the 'sh' is
actually a symlink to 'bash'.
