Hi!
I had the same experince, almost one week trying to get the drivers to work
using both the 2.0.34 and the newer 2.0.35 kernels (both kernels are
downloaded from the RedHat site), none worked.
I downloaded the SuSE 2.0.35 kernel source which has the AWE32 drivers
included, compiled it and to my surprise it worked. The reason that it
didn't work with the redhat source (with the applied awe32 patch) is that
the one of the files had something wrong in it (there is a patch to fix
this).
So you have two ways to fix it, either download the the 2.0.35 kernels from
the SuSE site or search for the fix, although I would recommend you to
upgrade your kernel and get it from the SuSE site.
