Yet, another problem to confront... only a sympthom of my ignorance, or
should i say my newbieness to the control of my computer, instead of having
it Micro$ofted!
I'm trying to set up my ppp and my modem to get hocked to the net. Where
should i start... if i do a pppd, i actually see some junk, the one that is
suppose to be. I did the setserial thing to detect and autoconfig the
ports, but it doesn't seems to detect the port cua2 and cua3. 'cause, if i
do a "stty ctrscts /dev/cua2" (com3 is my modem port), it returns a standard
input/output error, but it does not do it if i do the same command on the
cua1 or cua0.
Then, if i try the procedure to try manually to connect, i start minicom,
initialize (it indicate online 0:00 in the status bar), quit without
resetting and then do the "pppd -d -detatch /dev/cua2 115200 &" (might not
be exact, i don't have it in front of me), i get nothing! Nothing also if i
do a "ifconfig" or a "route -n".
I have the scripts in /etc/ppp/scripts, do i have to put them someplace
else? I have the resolv.conf file, the hosts.conf and the options file made
from the options.tpl
I have a SupraMax 56i PCI in my computer. By the way, if someone have the
options file for this kind of modem could yo send it, i'm not sure of all
the specs of the modem. It might be part of the problem... I you guys
could give me a hint, i'ld be as happy as a set of dinning chairs... or
maybe my problem cannot be detected from what i said.
Thank you all to help the less fortunate.
