In the past, I've done this from Unix to Unix machine by creating a big
.tar.gz file of the portions of the filesystem I wanted to backup (typically
the /home hierarchy, plus a few things like /var/spool/mail), then ftping it
to the other server. I Imagine this would work to a WinXX machine too, even
if you have to keep the free 12 gigs as WinXX partitions. If possible, I'd
consider doing a small Linux install on the Win host, to simplify the backup
... but even if you can't, this approach should work for you, if you have
enough room on the Linux host to make the tar file.
