***** NOTES from Russ Brucks (RUSSB @ KFOC-GRP) at 3/18/99 8:14 AM
Jeff,

According to folks at the Linux Router Project http://www.linuxrouter.org/
You need at least a 486 & 12MB RAM to setup a simple 10Mb ethernet router.
Let me know of your success, I'm interested in doing the same thing (if I
ever find myself in possession of that elusive thing known as 'time'! :)

Regards,

Russ

Hi! I have an ADSL connection. I'm thinking about picking up two cheap
ISA Ethernet cards and trying to use the Linux Router distribution to
turn my 386 into a firewall/NAT box for my other two machines. Does this
sound like a good idea? Will the 386 be fast enough to handle incoming
traffic at 1.3 Mbps? Will any old NE2000 ISA Ethernet card do the trick?
Any recommendations?

Thanks,
  Jeff.
