Hi,
I had a problem with my drive some while ago. The error message was
different and I do not remember it but anyway it is not the point. I
was able to get a low level test software from the disk manufacturer's
Web site (WDC in my case). It runs from DOS (using a boot diskette),
and included a repair function (which remap unallocated sectors,
virtually replacing the bad sector).
