2. the options in my options file is only lock...but in the ppp-on
script it has the following
exec /usr/sbin/pppd debug lock modem crtscts /dev/ttyS2 57600 /
id did have /dev/modem in here first..but i took the card out and
set the jumpers manual...it is a plug and play modem.
3. you notice that gated[157] : Event Delete UpDown lo 127.0.0.1
gated[157] : Event Add lo 127.0.0.1 occur alot in the messages..i have
over a thousand lines of just these two for a few hrs of uptime
is this okay?
4. is this enough info? i think the script is not sending my password

OK, suggestions:
1. How are you trying to make the PPP connection? With minicom &/or
seyon?
That's the hard way, and tricky to get right ... the timing on starting
pppd
is touchy. Much better to use a real PPP dialer like chat, if you're not
doing that now.
2. If you are using chat or diald or something similar, take a look at
your
log (usually /var/log/messages) and see what chat (or whatever) and pppd
are
reporting about the attempt. If you can't figure this out yourself, post
a
followup that includes ALL the log messages from one attempt.
3. Also tell us what your pppd options look like -- could be in
/etc/ppp/options or on the command line that calls pppd (from a script
like
/usr/sbin/ppp-on).
Sorry to be so vague, but your question was pretty vague, and there are
a
lot of ways to set up PPP on a Linux system, so I and others can't
really
guess which one you are using.
