Hi, I have not managed to get sound going in linux at all, except for audio cds (although gnome manages to get sound). I firstly tried while using the precompiled kernel that came with the distribution (RH5.2) and used sndconfig to set it up, but it says: /lib/modules/2.0.36/misc/sb.0: init_module: Device or resource busy the same happens when i boot off a new kernel that i made, and when i compile sound support in it gives the same message at boot. I used the standard sound blaster drivers, which i am told work with ESS cards. It detects my sound card fine, at boot or in sndconfig, and gets the IRQ's etc sorted out. I don't think that there is an IRQ conflict, my card is on IRQ 5 now, when it was on 7 it conflicted with the parallel port and it told me so. Any ideas? The card works fine in windows. Thanks, Ben
