Why compile a new kernel, a standardly installed kernel, i mean one from any
distribution, be it slackware or whatever, has 3COM support as a module.
'modprobe 3c505'
should do the trick, if not read the Modules.HOWTO it has examples about
HOWTO use "modprobe" or "insmod" with command line options ie, IRQ and
I/O port settings.
