You could try fsck however the error means you have a badblock, possably the
best thing to do is get another drive as when IDE drives start showing
badblocks then the disk has used up all the space which is resurved for
badblocks. You could reformat the disk at the expence of your data and
exclude the badblocks.
I dont want to sound defeatist, but when one gets errors of that nature, its
realy time to get a new drive.
