Update your Pine to 4.10.

Then, set up for the SMTP server, type in the name of your SMTP server. I
personally have it set up with sendmail on my local machine, but it also
depends on exactly how sendmail wants to deal with it. I had major help
from the local Linux User Group on how to deal with this. I couldn't tell
you exactly how I did it, myself, though.

at man page after man page, but cannot figure out what is going on.

I haven't got that far yet). I can receive mail ok (fetchmail). I get all messages,
but when I send i get some mail relaying error, or host not found (nameserver). I
have tried sending through sendmail...no go. and tried through smtp....no go.
