I've just had this problem happen a second time. When I try to connect to my ISP, I get a "modem busy" message on Kppp. My modem is not busy as far as I can tell, and if I reboot and try it again, it works fine. I've tried looking for a lock file or something similar, but to no avail. The only programs I am using to connect with is Kppp. I set up my various configuration files as per the ISP-hookup-HOWTO.
