One way would be to compile an minimalistic 2.2.5 kernel without
any modules. Include just enough to get the system going (ide, filesystems
etc). Then boot the new kernel (providing you have upgraded everything
else to make your system 2.2.x compliant), compile the new modutils. Then
you can re-compile your kernel, put everything in you need and modulize
everthing in sight :)
Or, you could just see if you can get a binary version of the
modutils package (ie pre-compiled). :-)
