Please help this newbie.
I'm trying to install kde 1.1 on Redhat 5.2 using the rpm's I downloaded
from kde.org.
The problem is that nothing gets installed. RPM says it will install
kde in /opt/kde, but after the install process finishes there is nothing
there. I've tried both the install-kde-1.1 script and the individual
kde* packages. I've tried installing several times and each time it
says qt 1.42 is not installed so evidently that's not getting installed
either even though I tell it to.
The only error messages I get during the install process are:
"/usr/bin/env: /opt/kde/bin/kdm_on: No such file or directory" and
"/usr/bin/env: /opt/kde/bin/usekde: No such file or directory". But at
the end it says that the install finished.
So, I don't know if I have a KDE problem or a RPM problem. I'm not
experienced in using RPM to intall packages but the documentation makes
it look pretty straightforward. I do have plenty of disk space.
I've checked the newsgroups for kde install problems and see messages
concerning dependencies, paths, etc., but it doesn't look like I'm even
getting to that point in the install process.
Can anybody help?
Thanks,
Tom
