I did as you suggested. I installed the slackware kbd.tgz package. There are
indeed some nice fonts in there and a good utility to help you choose one.
Still some system-tweaking was required to get it to work from boot-up. I
also found the kbd-0.99.tar.gz package on metalab.unc.edu. Contrary to what
the name suggests it really contains the 0.98 sources. I compiled and
installed them too, with no problems.
