You might take a look at your mail headers and see what path mail takes
to get to you from Rutgers.  Mine always goes from New Jersey (the list)
to New Hampshire by way of Finland (listserv.funet.fi). which adds 40
minutes or so to the travel time.  That might _be_ the shortest network
path around New York, of course.
