Thanks for responding. I tried this. Now do I run sndconfig? What setting
do I give in that? When I run sndconfig, I get a no Pnp sndcard found error
msg. Please give a little more detail, as I am pretty new to this.

Your sound like me a few weeks ago.  I have the same card and had the
same trouble.  (are you running RHLinux?) at the shell-prompt do the
following.

#pnpdump -c > filename
#isapnp filename

this assumes you have the isapnp tools on your drive. if you dont just
install them from the cdrom.  replace 'filename' with the file you wish
to use, I use 'dump'
