Yup, I'd go to at least 16meg if you're going to run Xwindows (I'm sure you
want to). I think 8 meg is minimum just install system.

That's only big enough to install very basic system, you might squeeze X in
there but I doubt it. I go for at least 500Mb (you can get a gig for less
than $100 these days)
