Hi :)

Yup, one more time me :) I did some research on the soundcard thing, and
decided that a kernel compile was in order....so did some research on that
and got the howto and some other things from
http://jgo.local.net/LinuxGuide/ and printed it all. After reading it
through and making sure I understood what it all was, I went ahead and
tried the compile.

After configuring the kernel (with 'make config'), I did the 'make dep'
and got the following error:

/usr/lib/libc.a: could not read symbols: Malformed archive
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [scripts/mkdep] Error 1

I take this to mean that the libc (my guess is that that is a library
needed to compile...am I right?) is not the right one for the job. And
this is the libc that comes with the RH 6 CD...if the version of libc that
comes in the CD is not the right one to compile the kernel that comes in
the same CD...which one should I get?

Now....if that guess is not right...then what the heck does that error
mean? :)

        Thanks in advance

        Arioshi ba :)
