It takes me nearly 2 hours on a pentium 66 with 24m. Memory is
generally more valuable to the compiler than processor speed. You might
want to check with df whether it's running you out of hd space (it takes
about 150m). If it does run out of space, you can remove some
non-essential windows files and restart the make, you don't have to do
it all over again.
I use an ext2 fs with plenty of free space. umsdos will be somewhat
slower.
