Then it would seem unless i am missing something, that that directory could
be deleted along with its contents.
I would suggest copying the files first to /tmp just in case.

Well cp the files to /tmp or a created dir, in /tmp and delete the whole
directory.

Then in no way is it a lib, the file command will say;
/lib/libgdbm.so.1.7.3: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1,
not stripped
Or something to that effect.
