1. Since 2.2.0 pre7 is a "pre-release" version of 2.2, it's always possible
that something was broken in it. They are up to 2.2.7 last I saw, and
S.u.S.E. is due to ship 6.1 any day now, so the first thing I'd suggest is
upgrading to a real production kernel.
2. Can setserial find a UART at /dev/ttyS1 ?
3. During the boot process, does the kernel report finding serial devices?
4. What exactly does "won't work" mean?
