Personally, I would install gnome-ppp first, and then check the
libs. Reinstalling gnome-ppp won't take but ten minutes.
Run ./config after un- tar -ing and save the output that goes to
the screen. You should have two lines, about halfway through the
output:
checking if libtool supports shared libraries....yes
checking whether to build shared libraries....yes
IF, for some reason, you get a "no", you may need to update libtool
(???)
Or- I could be way off.
