Actually, what is very helpful I find, is make a seperat /home 
     partition that way, if your system bombs, you at least don't lose 
     personal files, and the file of your users.

NEWBIES -*-  PAY ATTENTION:
     
During the process of learning linux I went through MANY installation 
sessions.  You can really learn a lot that way.
     
One of the things I learned is to have a separate partition where I keep 
anything I want to save when re-installing a distro, particularly 
configuration files and sources for non-distro files I have downloaded.
     
Hope this saves folks some time.
