Since I needed a new bootdisk anyway, I tried these 3 methods this morning
to make one. ALL produced bootable disks, using Slackware 3.6's net.i
bootdisk, run as root from the pwd (/cdrom/bootdsks.144) that contained the
image.

1. dd if=net.i of=/dev/fd0

2. cp net.i /dev/fd0

3. cat net.i /dev/fd0

Hope this clears up any residual confusion after last night's discussion.
