Font config problems

I just bought Suse 6.0 and installed on a ATI Rage Pro 8MB card on a IIYAMA
monitor capable of 1600x1200.
1) @ 1280x1024 -> there are ghosts. Windows does fine.
2) Max usable res is 1024x768 in Linux.
3) Frankly, the fonts clarity is not good( jaggies ). ( Is there a way to
customize this ).
