This is a problem. As far as I know, Win9x only knows how to mount its
drives (and the drives of its file servers) using the Samba service. This is
a Windows limitation, not a Linux one - Linux would happily mount a Win9x
drive using NFS (or, I suppose, Appletalk) if Windows only knew how. Perhaps
you sould ask on Windows lists if anyone there knows of a NFS server for
Win9x. Unless there is, you're stuck with Samba - it was created to address
this limitation of Windows.
