Do you want to run a minimal linux system on the windows box (dual boot
for backups only)
or you want a linux backup server that backups your win95 hosts via
network ?
I can tell you what i use at home:
i have a dual boot linux/windows computer. As i were sick of
re-installing the windows system when it can no longer work reliably, i
backup the windows C: partition with linux on a CD or a tape (could be
hard drive ...). When i want to reinstall, i just overwrite everything on
this C: partition with my backup.
to bakup the windows C: i mount it with linux and i use tar + gzip.
to restore the windows C:, i mount it with linux, issue a rm -rf in it to
get it clean and use tar to fill it again.
There are limits to this tar method since the hidden bit is not well
understand by linux, but it has never prevented windows to work at reboot
(i already restored at least 5 times). The advantage are:
1/ that the files are all continuus on the drive when restored and the
fat is completely clean.
2/ that only the meaningfull datas of the partition are backuped
To be more win95 respectfully, you could use dd to backup the
raw-partition. The advantages are:
1/ all the data layout, fat and property bits of the files (hidden) are
restored.
the drawback is that even if half the partitionis used you will backup
the whole thing.
I use this on a single computer (dual boot). It could be done via a
minimal linuc partition (dual boot) backing up things via network to
another linux box equiped with a CD burner or Tape drive ...
hope this helps

Subject: Mirroring of hard disk WITH LINUX
Hi to all.
Sorry for my e-mail.
I have in a room 12 PC ( student PC )with Win95(a,b).
I want mirroring the hard disk C ( where is the system,
because often the students delete files and other )

Is there one software ( for Linux box ) for mirroring
